Baseball is one of the most popular sports in the world, especially in the United States of America. According to Encyclopaedia Britannica, baseball is the national pastime of Americans.

Given the popularity of baseballs, it is inevitable that baseball players would become celebrities. Other fans even view baseball players as their heroes. It is not surprising that baseball-related merchandise such as jerseys, baseball caps, baseballs, baseball cards, baseball gloves, and other baseball memorabilia would be popular among fans. The ones that are often sold out are the ones that bear the signature of top baseball players.

Among the most popular baseball memorabilia are autographed baseballs. The more expensive ones are those that were signed by players that qualified as members of the National Baseball Hall of Fame, The 300 Win Club , The 3000 Hit Club, and The 500 Home Run Club. Some of these autographed baseballs are even considered rare, and therefore more expensive.

Definitely, the owner of the signature and the number of signatures affect the price of an autographed baseball. If the baseball was signed by a champion baseball team, then it is probably worth thousands of dollars.

Sometimes, the value of certain autographed baseballs increase over the years. It is possible that initially, the baseball was signed by an unknown baseball player. After a few seasons, the baseball player is recognized. Therefore, anything that bears his signature is going to be worth double or even triple of its original price. It is not a bad idea to hold on to autographed baseballs that are worth only a few bucks. You will never know how much it will be worth in a few years.

Other factors that may affect the price of an autographed baseball are volume or abundance, condition, and authenticity. If there is only a limited number of a particular autographed baseball, then it is more expensive than the other baseballs. Basically, if there were fewer supplies to meet the demand, the baseball would have a higher price.

The quality of the autographed baseball affects its price. If the signature were no longer legible or readable, the value would obviously go down. Blurred signatures might be mistaken for fakes. If it looks like it was not stored properly, then the autographed baseball might only be worth a couple of dollars.

Authenticity is definitely an important factor. It is best to purchase an autographed baseball that comes with a certificate of authenticity. Autographed baseballs that come with certificates are often more expensive for obvious reasons. It is advisable to buy autographed baseball merchandise only from reputable retailers and individuals.

Collectors of baseball merchandise believe that packaging also affects the credibility of the retailer or seller. This makes sense. Autographed baseballs that are stored in protective or display cases or in ball holders show how valuable the products are. Be careful, though. Some unscrupulous individuals might try to pass off fake merchandise by placing then in casings or holders.

Before you purchase an autographed baseball, make sure that you have scrutinized the product very well. Purchase from reputable retailers and individuals. Look out for certificates of authenticity.

Golfing magazines are full of tips and instruction and basic do this but don’t do that theories. How is it possible for a new golfer to really understand what aspects of the game are important and which ones are just someone’s overgrown opinion? Simple trial and error can significantly help you deduce which golfing magazines, whether they are online or offline, are actually offering useful advice. “Correcting Your Golf Grip To Improve Your Game” Nobody likes to pay for a service they are unhappy with, so why pay for a magazine that offers unusable tips?

One of the better online golfing magazines is a sweet little secret found at bestprogolfguide. The tips are real and useable and coherent. One of the very basic examples that I truly found helpful is the golf grip. How important is the golf grip anyway? To my surprise, it’s actually a vital part of the quality of a golfer’s game.

“Correcting Your Golf Grip To Improve Your Game” The golfer’s grip is actually where the basic game begins. A weak and pliable grip will result in a weak and pliable swing. A grip that is too hard and stiff will produce a swing that is better suited for baseball than golf.

The first time anyone placed a golf club in my hand there was very little instruction on how to hold the club. I was taught how to lace my fingers in the right direction, but beyond that there was very little guidance. I hung on tight and baseball whacked the ball straight up a hill and into the windshield of the instructor’s car. That is an honest and true story. After that incident my golfing days were numbered. I had excellent power but absolutely no control. I was, incidentally, a fairly good baseball player.

Obtaining a Better Golf Grip “Correcting Your Golf Grip To Improve Your Game”

Understanding the basics to a better golf grip can significantly lower your scores and best of all, improve your control. Starting with the left hand, this hand is responsible for gripping the club handle. The fingers of the left hand begin the base grip. This is of course aimed at right handed golfers. Those who are left handed golfers would switch the entire process to adjust to their predominant hand.

Most people have heard the analogy that you want to grip the golf club as though you are shaking hands with it. While it is a good analogy in getting people to reach for the club in the appropriate manner, “Correcting Your Golf Grip To Improve Your Game” there is a lot of play in that golfing advice. Let’s add a more specific notion of shaking hands with the golf club and meeting the knuckles of your left middle joint of the forefinger reaching approximately two inches from the top of the club handle and the bottom three fingers approaching the base of the club.

The right hand is then going to join in on the action and take its grasp around the golf handle. The club handle should rest right at the knuckle/palm intersection of the hand. You don’t want the club to be too far toward the finger tips and you want the club to rest firmly toward the base of the fingers toward the hand.

Now you successfully have both hands on the club. Looking down at their position you should be able to find a V shape created by the thumb and forefinger on the left hand. This V shape should have a direction. It should be aimed toward the right shoulder, pointing right about the middle of the shoulder to be precise. Adjust your grip until you have the club lying toward the base of your fingers toward the palm and the V shape of the left thumb and forefinger pointing directly toward the middle of the right shoulder. This seems like an awkward position, but once you adjust the grip accordingly, it should actually have a mildly normal feel to it. Get comfortable with it and practice getting just those basics of the golf grip down without having to spend twenty minutes adjusting your grip every time you pick up a club. You should be able to get it to the point where this part of gripping the golf club is natural and automatic.

“Correcting Your Golf Grip To Improve Your Game” Once you have mastered this basic approach to gripping the golf club, start to take notice of some finer details in your grip. There should be a little flex to your left wrist. The wrist should take on a mild angle that resembles a “cupping” angle. Relax your wrists until you find that motion and angle.

The V shape that your right forefinger and thumb produce should be aimed up toward the right ear. All of these “aiming” suggestions are assuming that you are gripping the golf club in the stance you take just prior to swinging the golf club.

The palm of the right hand is basically responsible for the direction the ball will go once it is in the air. While you are standing their adjusting your grip on your golf club and finding the stance that works best for you, you want to keep in mind that your goal is to “aim” the golf ball with the palm of your right hand. This of course only works if your grip on the golf club is accurate and your hands mold together as one cohesive unit.

When gripping your golf club, you want your hands to be able to work together. Aside from that, you want your hands to work in sync with the rest of your body. By developing a natural but distinct grip on the golf club you can encourage your entire body to work cohesively all the way through to the end of the golf club and produce a swing that will carry the ball both the distance and the direction you are aiming for.

Practice your swing often and carry your follow through all the way through your body. This will help eliminate chop shots that result from an uncomfortable grip on the golf club. Spending a little time at the driving range is always a good idea when making even minor adjustments to your swing. Practicing the adjustments for the first time on the fairway with a bunch of golfing associates is typically a frustrating maneuver.

White Knuckles “Correcting Your Golf Grip To Improve Your Game”

White knuckling the club is a common mistake when learning new procedures to gripping the golf club. A golfer tends to get nervous about his new technique or small adjustments and wraps the club in an all out death grip. Relax a little and enjoy the challenge of creating a better golf swing.

On the opposite end of the scale avoid gripping the golf club with limp hands. This eliminates the control you are gaining by adjusting your grip in the first place and creates a very sloppy swing and follow through.

You want to grip the club firmly in your grasp and hold it with confidence. This confident but relaxed grip can help to flatten the head of the golf club as it makes contact with the golf ball, which can ultimately assist in cleaning up a slice.

Golfing Tips “Correcting Your Golf Grip To Improve Your Game”

The basics of gripping a golf club, while often an ignored or barely recognized intricacy of improving a golf game, is really only the beginning of overhauling an entire golf game. From grips to stances to head movement issues there is a chronic plethora of advice and tips floating around out there on the internet and in golfing magazines. How do you asses which tips are worthwhile and which ones will simply destroy what golf skill you have picked up over time?

Not all golf tips apply to all people. Just because one set of tips is completely useless to you doesn’t mean they won’t help someone else recover a lost game. Every individual’s physical body is different, so sometimes just a small adjustment in the tip makes it a valuable golf tip to add to your game. Perhaps you are taller than average or smaller than average. Most golf tips are written with the average body in mind. If you have particularly long arms, you may have to take that into account as you read through golf tips.

If you have been golfing for years and you have developed particular habits that are hard to break, remember (“Correcting Your Golf Grip To Improve Your Game”)h that often the initial habit breaking period will lead to a decline in your golf game. This is actually true of any sport. If the unusual habit is working well for you, there may not be a need to change it. If it isn’t working well for you and you decide to change it, be patient with yourself. It will take time to see any actual improvement.

Available Features on Basketball Hoops:

A basketball hoop can be designed in many different ways. People typically see a basketball hoop as a pole in the ground and a backboard with a rim attached. While this view is generally correct, a lot of basketball hoops today have many features that go beyond this general description. These features are meant to enhance the game and, if understood correctly, can also greatly enhance a player’s personal training. Some of these features include height adjustments, break-away rims, different material backboards, and the size of the backboard.

Basketball Hoops Height Adjustments

While standard height of a basketball system is to have the rim set at 10 ft., most beginning players will find this high of a rim to be very difficult to practice their shot. Many basketball systems have a fixed-height design and so younger players would have no choice but to wait to grow tall and strong enough to have the ball reach the rim. This waiting period wastes many useful years the player could be developing their shot. Because of this problem, many systems today feature height-adjustable rims. Lower-end basketball hoops from Lifetime Products and Spalding feature height adjustments down to a 7.5-ft. high rim.

Other high-end systems like Spalding’s Arena View line, Goalsetter basketball systems, and others can adjust to much lower heights; some systems can even go as low as 5.5 ft. While such a low height is much easier to shoot on, 5.5 ft. is probably not necessary. Most youth recreational leagues start players shooting an a rim height of 7-8 ft. This range makes the players have to work to develop their shot while not crushing their hopes by having the rim too far out of reach. High-end systems that have this range include Mammoth Basketball Hoops, Goalsetter Basketball Systems, and Arena View Basketball Goals.

Break-away Rims

As a basketball player develops their game, particularly male athletes, the rim design will begin to be important. Different rims provide better playability as players reach the age of dunking. Performing a slam dunk does not occur often in younger athletes; but, as a player reaches the High School age, they will likely be able to develop their vertical jump sufficiently to dunk the basketball. At this point in the basketball player’s development, static or stationery rims are likely to be broken and their basketball system is likely to be damaged.

In most high schools, the NCAA, and certainly the NBA, break-away rims are used. The break-away design allows the rim to be slightly displaced out of the mounting mechanism attached to backboard and to snap back into place after the rim is released. This features not only provides greater longevity out of the basketball system, but also provides safety for the player. Were a player to dunk sufficiently hard on a static rim, the rim could be completely torn off the backboard and the player would fall in whichever direction his or her momentum was going. These kind of problems are minimized with a break-away rim.

Basketball Backboard Materials

Different backboard materials will vary greatly in how well the basketball bounces or “rebounds” off of the surface. In increasing order of reboundability, backboard materials would rank as follows: plastic, polycarbonate, acrylic, and then glass. While this difference in rebound may seem trivial to many basketball players, backboard material on basketball hoops can help or hinder a player’s shot development. In particular, a shot that is used often as a player advances his or her skills is the “bank shot.” This shot describes the player shooting at the backboard with the hope of bouncing the ball into the rim. With lower-end materials – like plastic, polycarbonate, and acrylic – the bank shot can become greatly altered if the backboard absorbs the impact of the ball.

Glass, for all intents and purposes, has no absorption of the basketball’s impact; so, a player developing their game will be able to more easily fine tune the bank shot on a glass backboard than a backboard made of the other materials. Amongst the other materials for a backboard, their is not has much difference in quality of rebound. For instance, most players will not be able to recognize the difference between an acrylic rebound and a polycarbonate rebound.

Why the materials are ranked in the order they are above is because the material of the backboard tends to coincide with other features that help stabilize the system. For example, no basketball system currently exists in the market that has a plastic backboard and a square pole, but there are such systems in both polycarbonate and acrylic. No, polycarbonate backboard currently exists on a system with larger than a 4×4 inch square post, but there are such systems with an acrylic backboard. The more stable the basketball hoop is overall, the more stable the backboard will be and the better the rebound will be.

Basketball Hoops’ Backboard Size

Finally, the last thing to be considered in this article will be the size of the backboard. On regulation-sized basketball hoops, the official backboard size is 72″ wide x 42″ high. From this size, many smaller backboard occur on many different systems. Lifetime Products produces a backboard as small as 42 inches wide. Spalding produces a backboard as small as 44 inches wide. Much like the material of the backboard, for advanced players, a bigger backboard is a better backboard.

A larger backboard allows the player to develop a full range of shots they could use in their game. A smaller backboard takes away much of the range of bank shots that could be employed in a game. Most high schools have a regulation-sized backboard and so a player will have a better personal practice the closer their basketball backboard comes to 72 inches wide and 42 inches high.

Basketball Accessories for Basketball Hoops

Many basketball accessories exist to help a player practice on their own. Only a couple will be considered here. One of these accessories is a hoop chute (also called a personal rebounder or a back-atcha chute). This accessory attaches to the bottom of the the rim and functions to direct the ball back to the shooter. This mechanism allows a player to shoot more shots on average for a set period of time than if the player had to rebound their own shot.

The other accessory worth mentioning is a ball cart. A ball cart usually functions to store basketballs when they are not in use; but, for a basketball player practicing by themselves, a basketball cart allows a player to fine tune their range from different locations on the cart by having several basketballs at their disposal to shoot continuously from the same location. Both of these accessories make more efficient use of personal practice time.

Football is one extreme contact sport. It may not be as fast or as furious as the usual racing games you seen but it definitely has a unique notch of action on its own. This is precisely why helmets are necessary when playing football. Both amateurs as well as professional players of the said sport can be seen donning this specific protective gear on before setting off to play the game. However, there are specific characteristics possessed by football helmets. They generally have a face mask, a chin strap, and even a mouth guard that comes as an optional feature.

All that have been mentioned goes the same with college football helmets. Apart from being just a protective gear, it can also be said that college football helmets are being worn for their aesthetic effect. Every football helmet comes emblazoned with the particular team’s logo. This is essential because it helps coaches identify their players while on field and referees find it easier to record down playing technicalities while every one is out there on field.

College football helmets were not as complex as they are right now. Football helmets actually started way back in 1915. These old types of helmets are very basic looking. They are even simply made out of leather. They are also made with a flat looking top design which can be likened to the ones professional wrestlers have been using. Back then, the main purpose of these helmets was to protect the player’s ear from any damages. However, the lack of ear holes on the helmets has proven communication to be difficult when these old helmets were used.

So through time, helmets have evolved and improved until the National Football League has required football helmets to come with a face mask. From then on, college football helmets have also adapted this particular technical requirement for the games they have held. Nowadays, leather is not the main ingredient of college football helmets. It is now polycarbonate which is being widely used in making such helmets for football.

In addition, college football helmets have also taken into consideration the need for constant communication while on field. Football, after all, is a group sport which calls for much coordination within the team. What happened instead is that these football helmets have changed its design from flat top into a more oval structure. According to studies which have been conducted, this oval shape of college football helmets actually helps a lot in protecting the head from too much impact. Moreover, an inflatable bladder is also now being used to provide more protection for football players while wearing a football helmet.

Then eventually, the chin strap has also been developed as professionals felt the need to secure that these football helmets are safely held in place. This is important especially for a contact sport like football wherein unpredictable actions can happen. College football helmets really did evolve through time. From its humble beginnings, people have realized the need to improve it.

If you want to understand the history of soccer, you have to admit that for some reason, humans have a natural urge to kick things. Whether it’s to release frustration, or simply for fun, we do this even without noticing.

How many times have you not walked on the street as a kid (and not only), simply kicking that pebble or cone on the ground in front of you out of boredom. It’s this natural urge that stands at the basis of the history of soccer.

-	When was soccer invented?

When speaking about the history of soccer a lot of people regard England as the place that soccer was born and although this could be a true statement in a particular context, the truth is that the English were the first to organize soccer around 1863, however they did not “invent” it per say. So if 1863 is the year the sport got “baptized”, then what year was soccer invented and where?

Since soccer or soccer-likesports can be traced way back to ancient times, it’s difficult to pin-point a specific year, but historians of the phenomenon usually chop it down into 3 periods of time.

-	History of soccer during ancient times

They might not have had our modern commodities, but ancient people sure knew how to have their fun. And, you guessed, kicking a “ball” around (obviously, the balls were extremely rudimentary compared to what is used today) was considered a fun activity in many areas all around the globe, most of them developing at the same time, without interaction from one another.

In history of soccer the first written statement regarding the start of soccer comes from a Chinese military manual at around 300 BC, which describes a practice called “cuju” that involved the players kicking a leather ball through a hole in a silk cloth stretched between two poles. On the other side of the globe, in the Americas, the Aztecs were playing a similar sport, although some compare it to basketball more than soccer.

The purpose of the game was to kick the ball through a small stone circle that was placed high up on the arena’s walls, hence the relation to basketball.
Now I don’t know about you, but to me it sounds a lot more difficult to place a small leather ball exactly in the middle of a stone circle that’s well high above your head with your foot, than striking a modern “high-tech” ball in an 8 yard goal.

- History of soccer during the Middle Ages

We usually think of the medieval era as a time when war was viewed as a necessity and a “job” rather than a calamity. Despite being quite a serious, “dark” period of time, somehow the medieval people managed to take some time for some sports, including soccer.

The forms of soccer played during this time were obviously incomparable to our current definition of the sport; hence they are usually classified as “mob soccer”.

While their dads were off at war, children would often grab a patched up leather ball, hit the nearby field and start a “war” on the field. The lack of rules often lead to fights and serious injuries and the sport was regarded as dangerous in many locations.

A clear example of this can be found in the London British Museum, where an engraving shows a group of men struggling to win a leather ball, with a second image showing a man with a broken arm. You do the math.

-	Modern-day soccer

As mentioned above, although we don’t know when soccer was invented, we do know when it was organized as a sport under a clear set of rules. Being a popular practice in England, soccer was played chaotically and oftentimes it would lead to the same on and off-pitch battles similar to the ones occurring during medieval soccer matches. On each match, the two teams would agree on a particular set of rules, but with the lack of a referee arguments would often spark up.

In order to keep things in order, a few English clubs met in London on October 26, 1863 in order to create a set of well-defined and universal rules for the game.

The Football Association was born and although their set of rules did not apply to all clubs immediately, in a few decades, as soccer clubs switched from amateurism to professionalism, their laws and conduct restrictions became standard for everyone.

As you can see, there’s really no “right” way to answer the “When was soccer invented?” question and you’ll have your fair share of arguments at hand regardless of what period you believe was the spark that caused the wildfire that soccer is today.

And you’ll probably agree with me on this: it’s not really that important to know when soccer was invented, but rather acknowledge that we are lucky to be able to enjoy this wonderful sport at its best, as we can in modern times.

Yes, use steroids, break into the starting line up and maybe get that college scholarship. They are only the football training aids the needed to be bigger, stronger and faster. Anabolic steroids are lightening in a bottle, guaranteed to develop your football skills. Look what they have done for other athletes like Chris Benoit or the late Lyle Alzado and former USA track star Marion Jones.

What were they thinking? As of this writing Marion Jones sits in jail for lying about her use of steroids, after having been stripped of her Olympic gold medals for using steroids. Former All Pro Denver Bronco, Lyle Alzado died before his time. Chris Benoit will be remembered more for murdering his family and killing himself, than he will for his wrestling career.

It is our position the greatest football training aids are heart and drive, used properly, they can help you develop better football skills than steroids.

Let’s consider 5′7 165lbs. Rudy Reuttiger, too small to play big time college ball. He had few football skills and even less talent. November 8, 1975, after 2 years of playing on the practice squad, Rudy finally played two downs for Notre Dame. Utilizing his heart and desire, Rudy registered one sack and is currently the last player to be carried off the field by his team mates.

What made Rudy a Notre Dame legend? Why is there a movie about Rudy’s college career?

Rudy used heart and drive to earn his place in Notre Dame folk lore. Developing his football skills, he fulfilled his dream of running through the tunnel onto the field of Fighting Irish.

Today’s young football players face more pressure than ever before, to break the starting line up and try to win the ” Holy Grail” a college scholarship. They also have more football training aids and available to develop football skills. Football training equipment today include training videos, articles on the net and football equipment all designed to help players develop their football talent. There summer football training camps, advanced work out techniques and better gym equipment. It is our sincere hope today’s players use these football training advantages, not steroids, to advance their football careers.

Athleticism can be developed by practicing speed and agility drills. Strength can be increased by a regimented work out program done in the gym. Check with your coaches and trainers, they can give you a strength conditioning program designed specifically for you. These are football training techniques that can improve your on field performance with out risking your life.

Many games are won or lost in the 4th quarter, fourth quarter conditioning drills separate the winners from second best. Running and wind sprints should be part of your football conditioning program. Jogging exercises the heart as an organ, wind sprints work it as a muscle. Combined these will be the football drills used to keep you in condition for the 4th quarter.

The challenge is this, if an undersized and dyslexic Rudy Reuttiger can accomplish all that he did, given his limitations, what can you do with your all of your athletic skills?

What football training aids will you use to develop your football talents, heart, desire and hard work, or steroids?

Glory is fleeting, football careers are short, and the damage caused by steroids can last a life time. Just ask Marion Jones or the widow of the late Lyle Alzado.

Andrew Berkey

Former lyouth league football coach, who wants to see young athletes succeed both on and off the field. I recommend ScoreTouchDowns.com as the place to get good football information and good football training equipment.

Don’t you just love the sound of your skis clicking into your bindings and the squeaky sound of ski wax on Colorado snow? There is something so invigorating about gearing up for a day of skiing or snowboarding. Read tips and information for selecting the perfect ski and snowboard equipment for your Aspen, Colorado vacation.

Aspen Ski Rentals

Many visitors find that ordering Aspen ski and snowboard rentals online in advance saves them a lot of time by not having to wait in line. The following information will also help guide you through selecting the ideal gear for your Aspen, CO vacation.

First, when selecting Aspen ski rentals and equipment, you need to sort out what type of terrain you will be skiing, what are the current conditions like and the all important question “What type of skier are you”? These factors will determine a number of things when it comes to fitting your Aspen ski rentals.

As most avid skiers know, today’s equipment is far superior to yesterdays gear. With this advancement in technology, renting the ideal Aspen ski equipment can seem like a daunting task. You will most likely need to get fitted for boots, skis and poles. Some say, a proper fitting ski boot is the most important part of progressing in your skier ability.

Getting Fitted For Boots

Comfort isn’t king when it comes to renting ski boots. To improve your skiing ability and to progress to the next level, it is imperative to rent boots that support every inch of your feet. You want to prevent having what is known as sloppy feet. Sloppy feet happens when there is too much room in your boots which will lesson the amount of control you have on your skis. You obviously don’t want to strangle your feet so you can’t feel them, but you definitely need your boots to be tight. This will maximize your sensitivity to the terrain and increase your control.

Often times, ski rental shops in Aspen will size your poles for you, but if you’re an advanced skier, you might want to be aware of a couple of things. The ideal pole size changes with what type of terrain you prefer to ski. If you’re a big fan of ripping up fresh corduroy then you need to get a standard sized pole. You can measure what size pole you need by turning the ski pole upside down and grabbing directly under the basket. If the pole is correctly fitted, you’re arm should be bent at a 90 degree angle.

On the other hand, if skiing zipper line bumps is your thing, make sure you get smaller poles so you can plant correctly while bashing those bumps. Get the poles to long and planting on the mogul will push your shoulders back which will cause you to either be kicked to the back seat or redirect your skis. Since you want your upper body to be “quiet”, short poles will enable you to simply flick the top of the mogul while skiing through the line.

Skis are the number one question when renting gear for your Aspen, Colorado ski vacation. Common questions include:

1) How long should my skis be?

Length of skis depend on your skier ability. If your standing up, ideal ski lengths for beginner to intermediate skiers tend to fall anywhere between your upper chest and nose. For advanced skiers who tend to seek powder stashes, skis are generally longer to support their body weight while in the deep snow.

2) What’s the difference between powder skis and groomer skis?

Floating in Aspen, Colorado’s deep powder stashes is what a ski vacation is all about. In order to ski powder, it is essential you have skis wide enough to carry you on top of the snow. If you are on narrow racing skis, you will tend to sink too deep. this will turn your powder day into a long leg workout. On the other hand, if you’re into carving flawless turns in Colorado, then you need to rent skis that are a little narrower which will hold the line tighter while leaning into your turns.

3) What does parabolic mean?

Parabolic skis have revolutionized the ski industry. They have enabled beginner skiers to advance to intermediate while intermediate skiers have enjoyed tackling advanced terrain. Basically, parabolic skis enable for quick edge to edge turning radius. Simply pivot your knees, put the skis on edge, and they do the rest of the work for you.

4) What’s the difference between a flexible vs. stiff ski

Stiff skis are great for holding an edge on hard packed snow. They also allow a skier to ski faster without the skis from loosing an edge. Flexible skis are great for blasting through the crud and blazing over moguls.
